Rooted in innovation.
At Lindsay, we’ve proudly innovated and expanded the world’s potential since the 1950s. Once a small operation in the rural American Midwest, Lindsay has grown to become a worldwide force in irrigation, infrastructure, and industrial technology solutions that enable the global population to grow safely and sustainably.
1950s
In 1955, our founder, Paul Zimmerer began a farm equipment business in Lindsay, Nebraska, with the first successful irrigation towline for rough field terrain. Snoline™, now a Lindsay company, began manufacturing road safety products around the same time.
1960s
Our first Zimmatic™ center pivot—designed and built by Zimmerer’s sons—began operation on a farm in Nebraska. It’s still operating today!
1970s
Lindsay received patents for our uni-knuckle joint and proprietary external collector ring to give Zimmatic systems a competitive advantage. These features still contribute to the leading performance, strength, and long-lasting durability of our pivot and lateral-move systems.
1980s
We released our revolutionary Zimmatic 9500P center pivot and launched our Remote Monitor and Alarm Control (R-MAC) system using computer technology that allowed pivots to communicate for the first time. The first Road Zipper™ System launched in 1984, marking another significant milestone.
1990s
The introduction of Automated Irrigation Management System (AIMS) control panels allowed growers to precisely program water, fertilizer, and chemical application—eliminating repeated trips to the fields.
