In an effort to make this calculator as simple and straight forward as possible several assumptions were made relative to the energy sources used to provide water to the irrigation system, along with crop yield data. This helps to form a logical impression of overall energy costs, without the need for labor intensive calculations or time consuming fact finding endeavors.

Energy Sources:

Electric - An average of 1.18 hp/hr/kw was used to simplify power requirement calculations. This is an industry average number obtained from research performed on several power source, pump and electric motor configurations. Actual electric power consumption may vary.

Yield Data:

Incremental annual yield increases for the specific crops listed was obtained from annual USDA crop production reports.
