Canadian Grower Says Zimmatic Pivots are Built to Last

When you ask Brandon Gibb about the durability and reliability of Zimmatic®center pivots, he simply points to one of his machines.

“One of our pivots is 37 years old and still going strong,” he said. “We bought it used ten years ago. It previously worked in an area that grows mainly potatoes, sugar beets and corn, so it saw a lot of use before it got to us.”

Gibb said the 37-year-old machine now keeps pace with two newer Zimmatic pivots he purchased in the past eight years. Together, the machines water more than 600 acres of alfalfa and barley on Gibb’s operation (R & B Gibb Farms) in southwest Alberta, Canada. The operation also includes nearly 700 acres of pasture.

“The old pivot still runs great. We’ve had very little trouble with it,” he said. “We’ve just had to replace a few parts. It still has the old school panel – but we’re planning to upgrade that soon.”

For upgrades, as well as service and repairs, Gibb turns to the team at his local Zimmatic dealer, New Way Irrigation, in Lethbridge.

“There was a time when I worked with someone else, and that was a big mistake,” he said. “Now I only deal with Zimmatic. I understand and know their machines, and I feel they are very reliable. I also get great service and help from everyone at New Way Irrigation. I definitely recommend them to other growers in my area.”
